USAID Commits $34.8 million for Health and Education

Photo: USAID Mission Director Flynn Fuller signed two bilateral agreements with Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong. U.S. Ambassador Carol A. Rodley presided over the signings.The United States and Cambodia signed amendments to two bilateral agreements on September 8 that will provide $34.8 million in 2009 funding from USAID to support Cambodian priorities in health and education. The new funding brings to over $250 million that the United States has provided in support of health and education in Cambodia since 1999.

Electoral Reform Conference Gathers Members of Government, Civil Society

Photo: Electoral Reform ConferenceUSAID sponsored the first major conference on electoral reform since Cambodia’s national parliamentary elections in the summer of 2008. Members of the government, opposition political parties and civil society attended the two-day event, which was held on August 11-12 at the Sunway Hotel in Phnom Penh.

Youth Democracy Festivals Draw Over 140,000

Students visit interactive booths at the Youth Festival in Kampong Cham on July 18-19Over 69,000 young people attended a U.S.-funded Youth Festival at Kampong Cham’s football stadium on July 18-19. The Kampong Cham event was the final in a series of eight Youth Festivals held since April 2006, attracting a total of 142,000 youth in provinces throughout the country.
