Learning a More Mother- and Child-Friendly Approach to Birth

Nearly 16,000 pregnant women and their partners have received birth preparedness lessons through USAID-supported pilot projects across the Kazkhstan. The lessons were delivered by USAID’s ZdravPlus project together with hospitals in Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, and Karaganda Oblast, at which the project is implementing its maternal and child health care pilots. ZdravPlus works to update prenatal, delivery, and newborn care for women and their infants at the primary health care level and at maternity hospitals by introducing the practice of evidence-based medicine.
