Youth Fair Provides Valuable Forum to Share Best Practices

At a Youth Fair in Voronezh, Russia on April 24, 2008 the USAID-funded Youth LINX (Learning, Involvement, Networking and EXchange) program showcased the successful projects it has developed during the past three years. The purpose of the fair was to exchange regional experiences and methodology and to encourage replication of effective models of youth engagement across the vast country’s regions.

More than 100 participants representing 30 youth groups and NGOs presented youth projects on issues ranging from electoral literacy to environmental protection to youth parliaments and civil rights. Representatives of youth committees from across Central Russia—including Voronezh, Kursk, Belgorod, Tambov and Bryansk—attended the fair to learn about best practices applicable to their regions.

The Voronezh fair was the first of five LINX plans to conduct in Russia; similar fairs will be held in the Russian Far East and Southern Russia. The event was covered extensively by regional and national media, including the Rossiya TV channel.
