Computer Training Advances Civil Engagement Among Youth
During October and November 2008, USAID's Internet Access and Training Program (ITAP), in cooperation with BarCamp Azerbaijan, provided Adobe® Photoshop® computer training to 10 Ireli Youth Movement mentors. Established in 2005, Ireli Youth Movement is a government-supported organization created to help engage young people in advancing democratic, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and regional progress within Azerbaijan.
With IATP training, Ireli mentors can now incorporate photos when communicating Youth Movement activities online, as well as provide web design assistance to other members.
Ireli mentor N. Behbudoba remarked that the training was particularly valuable to young people, who would otherwise be required to pay for computer training. ”Thanks to USAID-supported IATP program, youth can [now] receive free IT training courses.”
