USAID Launches Year-Long Knowledge Sharing Program for Municipalities
The USAID Civil Society Project (CSP), implemented by Counterpart International, hosted a Knowledge Management & Sharing workshop on December 6, 2008 in Azerbaijan’s northwest city of Piral. Facilitated by an Azerbaijani Economic Research Center expert, the 15 attendees (including 11 municipality chairmen), learned about current civic engagement techniques designed to reach a wider number of constituents. The workshop also discussed how suggestion boxes and public notice boards could optimize the tax collection process. This CSP 12-month program component, “Engage In and Advocate for Socio-Economic Development,” combines workshops with cross-visits, supporting local government efforts designed to improve budget and reporting transparency and accountability, and increase municipal services efficiency and quality.
