Ambassador Beyrle Meets with Youth Activists in Vladivostok

On November 18, 2008, Ambassador John Beyrle and Consul General Thomas Armbruster visited a USAID-funded youth leadership workshop in Vladivostok. Conducted by Winrock International under USAID’s LIDER project, the workshop aimed to connect young people with their communities and boost participation in local governance and advocacy. The 24 youth participants held discussions on a wide range of topics, including the role of volunteerism in community development, youth efforts to promote health and economic well-being, the role of the mass media in modern life, and how the recent U.S. elections might impact U.S.-Russia relation.
