Nedda Audah Hussein looks around the crumbling streets and buildings of her home town and sees the future -- what it might become. The 35-year-old Iraqi Director of the Nasiriyah City Planning Office is working to revive her ancient city. With help from USAID, working with the Coalition Provisional Authority, Hussein was able to set up an office, draw up a budget, and begin planning urban services for 1.5 million people in Nasiriyah and 20 nearby towns.
